Agility

Agility is a dog sport where a trainer guides a dog through a series of obstacles. The trainer cannot touch the dog nor can they touch an obstacle. The bond between the trainer and dog in these competitions is fascinating to watch as oftentimes the dog knows exactly what is expected of them just by the body position and nonverbal communication of the handler they are running with. This competition is adjudicated on both accuracy and speed. It is important for the dog to go through each obstacle in the order they are meant to be run. All dogs who complete the course as intended are then judged and ranked according to who completed it the fastest. Since speed counts as much as accuracy, this is a great sport for those wanting to work out with their dog, as both the dog and the trainer are often sprinting. The obstacles in this competition vary in difficulty including a teeter totter, tire jump, A-frame,and tunnel.
